I made and installed the permanent sole boards in the Folkboat’s cabin as well as the removable sole pieces to allow access to the bilge below. I patterned the space using door skin and then determined the optimal shape and size of each piece. I made the removable inserts with book-matched pieces of sapele on either side of a mahogany centerpiece. I fastened cleats on the underside of these pieces to keep them from sliding forward or aft when they are in place.
